Reupholstered Chair Using Recycled Denim Blue Jeans

These are some before and after pictures of a wicker rocker I recovered with denim from jeans and a jacket. The applique came from a jacket and the rest of the denim is from jeans. It was not hard to do using the old fabric as a pattern for the new covering. The only expense I had was the spray paint for doing the wicker part of the chair and the tacks to secure the covering.

Since I am a Brewer fan and the Brewers have had a rough season, I made this bag to show them a little love. It is made with 6 inch squares and the Milwaukee emblem is from a t shirt that I backed with iron on interfacing. The seams are made outward and there are 1/4 inch cuts along the seam line. Once the bag is washed you get the ragged effect.

DIY Dollar Store Notebooks covered with denim

This is a simple project to do. Just get a spiral notebook from the Dollar Store and lay it open on a piece of denim from blue jeans. Allow a 1 inch around the open notebook. Cut two pieces that would be the length of the notebook and half the width of the covers. You can add a reycled embellishment from another pair of jeans for the front of the notebook. Sew around the edges 1/2 inch from the edge attaching the two separate pieces that will be on the inside of the cover. Cut in 1/4 inch gashes around the edges about 1/4 inch apart and then wash in the washing machine to creat the raggedy effect. Makes a great gift to use as a journal or a small notebook to carry in your purse.

DIY Recycled Denim Jean Trivet or Hot Pad

This is an easy project that uses the inseams of denim jeans. Just cut the inseams close to the stitching. Use a think craft glue like Aleene's tacky glue and put a thick layer of glue on the inside of the inseam. Make a tight spiral as you continue to wind the inseam around the circle. As you add another inseam, just make sure to add extra glue to the ends and continue winding until you have the desired width. Let the trivet dry thoroughly on waxed paper. Enjoy using this fun creation or give as a gift.
